At first light the boat slips east from a meeting point near Port Canaveral or Ponce Inlet and eases into shallow flats, jetties and, when conditions allow, reef or wreck areas — rods are handed out, lines go taut quickly when you’re fishing in the wake of shrimp boats or around structure, and the day runs 4–6 hours with photos and video captured for later.
