Crab Snares and Rod-and-Reel Work
The class centers on the Bay Area’s signature approach—using bait to attract crab and a snare to scrape them off the bottom—techniques that make pier crabbing both accessible and addictive.
A Local Pastime Refashioned
Pier crabbing in the Bay Area was revolutionized in the 1980s and, more recently, has become one of the easiest and most enjoyable forms of fishing for coastal communities.
Skill-Forward, Hands-On Instruction
This offering emphasizes learning casting, reeling, gear selection and regulations—so the experience is more about mastering a craft than guaranteeing a catch.
