Departures are from the Glacier Valley Eco Tours base in Franz Josef Glacier; the operator will drive groups to Fox Glacier (about a 30‑minute drive) or pick up guests from the Fox Glacier township or their accommodation.
Bring outdoor clothing for the day’s weather, comfortable walking shoes, sun hat, sunblock, lip balm, sunglasses, camera and plenty of energy.
Hot drinks (tea/coffee/hot chocolate) and biscuits are supplied. The operator also provides raincoats, over‑trousers, heavy‑duty umbrellas, walking poles and sunscreen; hiking boots can be provided if required, and a Macpac baby carrier is available free for under‑3s.
