THE WHITEWATER

Class IV+ Rapids & the 'Hour of Power'

The run builds from warmup Class II miles into sustained technical Class III/IV sections and culminates in roughly six miles of continuous Class IV–IV+ whitewater—the stretch operators call the 'hour of power'—including the dramatic drop at Powerline Falls.

THE ROUTE

Seventeen Miles Through Rugged Canyon

A 17-mile float threads narrow canyon, rock gardens and named rapids such as 'Corkscrew' and 'Boat Reamer' before easing into the Orilla Verde stretch and the Taos Junction Bridge take-out.

THE MEAL

Riverside Deli Lunch

Halfway through the day the operator serves a riverside lunch—Far Flung’s signature home-roasted sandwich meats with homemade dips and salsas—a long-running staple of the trip experience.
