Wear pants or leggings and closed-toe shoes; in summer bring sunscreen. Helmets are required and provided by the ranch. You may bring non-alcoholic drinks and a picnic lunch; picnic tables are available.
Meet at Lone Star Ranch (Austin HQ) — the ranch is approximately a 10–15 minute drive southeast of downtown Austin; arrive early to allow time for orientation and mounting.
All riders must be at least 5 years old and helmeted; pregnant guests and individuals unable to safely mount/dismount will be refused. Only one rider per horse; intoxicated guests are not permitted.

How long is the lesson and how early should I arrive?
The group trail lesson is 45 minutes; participants are asked to arrive 30 minutes early for check-in and orientation.
What is the minimum age to ride?
All riders must be at least 5 years old; minors must be accompanied by a family member aged 18 or older on the ride and children will ride on their own horse.
Is there a weight limit or other rider restrictions?
Yes — the weight limit is 250 lbs. Pregnant participants will not be permitted to ride, and anyone deemed intoxicated or not physically fit enough to safely mount, dismount or complete the ride will be refused.
Is equipment provided?
Helmets, horse and tack are provided and all riders must wear helmets; other safety gear is also supplied by the ranch.
What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Cancellations made more than 72 hours in advance receive a 75% refund (25% non-refundable). Rescheduling must also be made more than 72 hours in advance; special accommodations are available for illness with advance notice.
What happens in bad weather?
The ranch rides rain or shine and will provide rain slickers; if conditions are deemed too dangerous the operator will offer a rain check, reschedule, or a Rainy Day Rodeo Ride in the covered arena.
