Plan footwear you don’t mind getting wet—vessels launch from a beach and you will likely step into shallow water to get underway.
If a child in your party weighs less than 30 lbs., bring a USCG-approved life jacket for that child; operators require compliant jackets for small children.
Because launches are from sand, secure footwear and a plan for carrying your vessel across the beach will make embarking and landing easier.

What is the minimum age to book a rental?
Renters must be 18 years or older to book and must present a photo ID; copies of ID are not permitted.
Can children ride in kayaks or canoes?
Children 14 and older may be in a single kayak with adult supervision; children under 6 are not allowed in kayaks but may be in a canoe with an adult. For children under 30 lbs., you must provide a USCG-approved life jacket.
What happens if I arrive late for my reservation?
Paddle reservations more than 30 minutes late will be cancelled and vessels reassigned, so it is important to arrive on time.
Are there seasonal or route restrictions I should know about?
Yes: the rental is intended for exploring the spring run except during manatee season, and vessels must remain between St. Johns channel markers 69 and 77; note that no watercraft will be allowed in the spring run effective April 1, 2025.
Can I swim, land at other beaches or board other boats during my rental?
No: for safety you must remain in your vessel with life jackets fastened at all times; swimming, landing at other beaches (including French Landing) and boarding or exchanging passengers with other boats are prohibited.
May I bring pets or alcohol on the vessel?
No: pets are not permitted in the vessels and alcohol may not be brought into the state park or onto rentals; operators reserve the right to inspect coolers prior to departure.
