THE LANDSCAPE

Cowichan Lake’s sheltered water and mountain backdrop

The lake’s clear surface and surrounding forested ridgelines create a calm paddling arena ideal for a child’s first outings—quiet coves and scenic shorelines make every short rental feel like a mini expedition.

THE WILDLIFE

Birds, otters and shoreline sightings

Renting a kayak places young paddlers close to wildlife viewing: the lake supports raptors such as osprey and eagles, and you may glimpse otters or deer along the shore while you paddle at your own pace.

THE FAMILY MOMENT

Short rentals, big memories

With rentals available by the hour (2-hour minimum) and equipment provided, a morning or afternoon on the water becomes an easy way to give a child independent on-water time while the family supervises from shore or nearby craft.

What the day feels like

What the rental feels like

This is a short, self-paced experience: rent a kayak for a set number of hours, receive a paddle and a life jacket, complete a brief safety orientation, then launch to explore mellow water and sheltered shoreline. Rentals range from a two-hour minimum up to full-day blocks, letting families tailor outings to a child’s attention span and energy.
