Highlights

Outing Highlights

THE MOONLIT WATER

Full‑Moon Calm and Reflective Nightscapes

Under a full moon the lake softens into a mirror of reflected light; paddling between that glow and the shoreline creates a quiet, almost otherworldly experience designed to slow the senses.

THE ATMOSPHERE

Glow Gear, Fireside S'mores and Lakeside Music

The event layers small, deliberate pleasures—glow gear for navigation, a lakeside s’mores fire, drink specials and live entertainment on adjacent nights—to make the evening as much about place as it is about paddling.

THE EXPERIENCE

Self‑Guided, Low‑Pressure Night on the Water

This is a no‑pressure outing: set your own pace on kayaks, paddleboards, canoes or paddle boats, then warm up at the s’mores fire—an intentionally simple evening built around the natural spectacle of moonlight on the lake.

What the day feels like

What the Night Feels Like

Check in at dusk, collect glow gear and a properly fitted PFD, then launch for a two‑hour, self‑guided paddle between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM—the lake’s daytime character gives way to quiet reflections, soft paddling sounds and the occasional shoreline glow as you move beneath the moon.

Suitability

Who it's for

Who gets the most from this paddle—and who should avoid it.

No. The $8 launch fee is only for guests bringing their own watercraft; it does not include a rental or life jacket—reserve a rental separately if you need one.

Is the water safe to swim in during the event?

Saluda Lake is safe for swimming; however, the Lunar Paddle is a paddle‑focused event and participants are recommended to remain in their watercraft during evening hours for safety.

Can I bring my own s'mores supplies?

The event provides s’mores supplies, but you are welcome to bring your own roasting stick; outside food and drink are not allowed.

Do I have to wear a life jacket?

Yes. All participants—whether using personal watercraft or rentals—are required to wear a properly fitted life jacket (PFD) while on the water.

Can my child paddle alone?

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult on the water.

Can I sign the waiver when I arrive?

Yes, waivers can be signed at check‑in, but organizers strongly recommend signing online ahead of time to save time at the café window.

What happens if it rains or there is severe weather?

The event will proceed in light rain, but if lightning, high winds, or other unsafe conditions occur the operator will reschedule or cancel and move reservations to the next available paddle night.
