Elvaston Castle Country Park is located near the village of Elvaston, approximately 5 miles southeast of Derby city center in Derbyshire, England. The park covers about 200 acres of landscaped parkland, formal gardens, riverside walks, and woodland areas along the River Derwent. Originally built in the early 19th century, Elvaston Castle was designed in the gothic revival style and sits at the heart of the park. The estate features notable elements such as the extensive Victorian gardens, summerhouses, a rose garden, and riverside paths that showcase centuries of garden design and land management. Visitors can explore a combination of informal and formal trails that provide access to peaceful woodlands, ornamental lakes, and meadows frequented by various wildlife species including birds, deer, and small mammals. The park is managed by Derbyshire County Council and emphasizes conservation, heritage preservation, and accessibility for families and hikers.
