The Serra da Mantiqueira Environmental Protection Area (Área de Proteção Ambiental da Serra da Mantiqueira) covers a large mountainous region divided among the states of Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro in southeastern Brazil. It is characterized by the Mantiqueira mountain range, which features rugged terrain, deep valleys, and important rivers that supply freshwater to surrounding communities.
