Portland Bay Dunes Landscape Conservation Area encompasses approximately 1,000 acres of coastal sand dunes, beaches, and adjacent forested habitats near Port Orford on Oregon’s southern coast. The area is characterized by massive shifting sand dunes, coastal windblown landforms, and rich biodiversity including rare plants and wildlife adapted to the harsh dune environment. Historically, these dunes supported Native American tribes and later saw use for logging and small-scale farming before gaining conservation status to protect fragile dune habitats and prevent erosion.
