About Krabi Forest Park

Krabi Forest Park is a compact protected forest area known for its striking limestone karst formations, diverse tropical flora, and accessible nature trails, offering visitors a peaceful escape within Krabi Province’s lively coastal region.

Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Krabi Forest Park, located near Krabi Town in southern Thailand’s Krabi Province, is a protected area encompassing approximately 13.658 square kilometers of lush tropical forest and dramatic limestone hills. The park is famed for its iconic karst landscape marked by towering limestone cliffs, caves, and unique rock formations that distinguish the area from surrounding lowlands. The forest consists mainly of tropical dry evergreen forest and supports a wide variety of plant species including Dipterocarps, palms, and various orchids. This green enclave plays an important ecological role as a wildlife refuge for local bird species and small mammals, although large animal sightings are rare due to the park’s relatively small size and proximity to urban areas.

Historically, the area has been recognized for its natural beauty and ecological significance since its designation as a protected forest park in 1981. Visitors often come here to explore nature trails that wind through the forest beneath steep limestone hills, providing excellent opportunities for birdwatching, trekking, and relaxation. One of the notable features is the Tham Khao Hua Chuk Cave, featuring impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The park’s accessibility from Krabi Town makes it a favored spot for half-day excursions and educational visits without the intensity of larger national parks.

Recreation in Krabi Forest Park includes easy hiking trails, nature study, birdwatching, and photography. The park offers a quiet contrast to the busy beaches of nearby Krabi, allowing visitors to experience the region's terrestrial biodiversity and dramatic geology. Its proximity to urban conveniences combined with tranquil natural settings makes it appealing to families, casual hikers, and nature lovers alike.
