Gangotri National Park is located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, covering part of the upper catchment area of the Bhagirathi River, which is one of the primary tributaries of the Ganges. The park encompasses over 1,553 square kilometers of diverse terrain, including glaciers, coniferous forests, meadows, and the towering peaks of the Greater Himalayan range. The park is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including blue sheep, ibex, black bears, Himalayan tahr, and snow leopards. Established in 1989, Gangotri National Park not only safeguards a vital ecosystem but also offers stunning landscapes for trekkers and nature enthusiasts. Suspension bridges span roaring rivers, and challenging trails lead hikers to the very heart of the Himalayas, with a notable trek being the Gangotri Glacier trail. The park is also of historical and religious significance, as it encompasses the sacred site of Gaumukh, considered to be the birthplace of the River Ganga.
