Kopaonik National Park, Serbia's largest mountain range, is characterized by its rich biodiversity and scenic beauty. The park is a hotspot for outdoor recreation with its vast array of hiking trails, exceptional winter sports opportunities, and abundant flora and fauna. Established in 1981, the park protects significant portions of the Kopaonik mountain range, which reaches its highest peak at 6,617 feet (2,017 meters) at Pančić's Peak. Known for its snow-capped mountains in winter, Kopaonik draws skiers and snowboarders from around the world. In the warmer months, the park's extensive trail network offers hikers stunning vistas and proximity to unique geological formations. Historical sites such as old churches and fortifications are scattered throughout the park, adding cultural intrigue to the natural landscape. The park is also home to rare and endemic plant species and is a designated Important Bird Area, making it a prime spot for birdwatching.
