La Tigra National Park, established in 1980, is one of Honduras' premier protected cloud forest areas, located approximately 20 kilometers north of the capital, Tegucigalpa. Spanning over 2400 hectares, the park features steep mountainous terrain with elevations ranging from 1200 to 2438 meters, providing a cool, humid microclimate that sustains dense montane and cloud forests. The park's dense vegetation is home to a rich variety of flora, including towering pine and broadleaf trees, orchids, bromeliads, and mosses. La Tigra supports diverse fauna such as howler monkeys, toucans, armadillos, and the endangered Resplendent Quetzal.
Visitors to La Tigra can explore an extensive network of well-maintained hiking trails that wind through mist-covered forests, alongside streams and waterfalls.
