Ankarana National Park, located in the DIANA Region of northern Madagascar, is known for its dramatic limestone formations called tsingy, lush forests, and vast network of underground caves and rivers. Established to protect this unique geological and ecological area, the park covers approximately 46,000 acres. The geography is characterized by rugged terrain with steep cliffs, dense forests, and river canyons, which create habitats for a wide variety of wildlife, including crowned lemurs, Ankarana sportive lemurs, and various species of chameleons. The park is rich in biodiversity and offers excellent opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. Visitors to Ankarana can engage in activities like hiking and exploring caves. Prominent landmarks include the Perte de Rivière, a stunning river which disappears into the tsingy, and Lac Vert, a picturesque green lake.
