About Bazaruto National Park

Bazaruto National Park, located off the coast of Mozambique, is a pristine jewel known for its idyllic beaches, vibrant marine life, and diverse ecosystems, offering visitors a unique blend of relaxation and adventure in a tropical paradise.

Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Bazaruto National Park, established in 1971, spans the Bazaruto Archipelago off the coast of Mozambique, comprising five islands. The park is renowned for its stunning white sandy beaches, clear azure waters, and extensive coral reefs that harbor an incredible diversity of marine species including dolphins, dugongs, and a variety of fish and turtles. The park's terrestrial regions offer sand dunes, grasslands, and freshwater lakes, inhabited by flamingos and crocodiles. Historically, the park's islands were sparsely populated, preserving their natural charm and ecological significance. Today, the park is a haven for eco-tourists and outdoor enthusiasts who can indulge in snorkeling, diving, bird watching, and more. Its remote nature and protected status make it a sanctuary for some of the rarest marine and bird species, along with being a spectacular spot for observing migratory whales.
