Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Cisów-Orłowiny Landscape Park, established in 1988, is located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship of Poland, encompassing a varied landscape of rolling hills, mixed forests, and distinctive sandstone rock formations. Covering approximately 110 square kilometers, the park protects a mosaic of habitats including fir and beech forests, peat bogs, and calcareous meadows which support rich flora and fauna, among which are several protected species of plants and animals. The park is situated in the Cisów-Orłowiny Hills, part of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, an area with a long geological history that is evidenced by visible sedimentary rock layers and rock outcrops. Visitors to the park can enjoy numerous marked trails for hiking and mountain biking, offering peaceful immersion in nature, as well as scenic overlooks that provide panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Notable landmarks within the park include the Orłowiny sandstone cliffs and the remnants of traditional rural architecture in surrounding villages, blending cultural heritage with natural beauty. The park is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts, bird watchers, and photographers. Additionally, educational nature paths highlight the park’s ecological importance and provide information on local flora, fauna, and conservation efforts. Its proximity to larger urban centers like Kielce makes it an accessible retreat for weekend visitors and families seeking outdoor recreation.
