Għar Dalam Nature Reserve is located in the southeastern part of Malta, offering a peek into the island’s ancient past. The centerpiece of the reserve is Għar Dalam, a cave that stretches over 144 meters, although only the first fifty meters are accessible to the public. It is one of the oldest and most significant prehistoric sites on the islands, renowned for its layered deposits with fossils that include dwarf elephants, hippopotami, and other creatures from the late Ice Age.
