Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Kitty Coleman Woodland Gardens spans approximately 24 acres on the east coast of Vancouver Island, BC. The gardens are particularly celebrated for their large collection of rhododendrons, with over 3,000 varieties, providing a vibrant show of color, especially in spring. The gardens were established in 1995 by Bryan Zimmerman and have since grown into a beloved destination for botanists and tourists alike. Visitors can explore a series of meandering paths through gardens that emphasize natural beauty, offering a tranquil respite from the city. The woodland setting provides habitat for various bird species, enhancing birdwatching opportunities. During certain seasons, the gardens host events like art shows and plant sales, adding cultural elements to the botanical experience.
