Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Kostrzyn Landscape Park (Park Krajobrazowy „Kostrzyn”) is situated in the Lubusz Voivodeship of western Poland, near the German border along the Odra River. Established in 1994, the park spans varied terrain including forested areas, river valleys, wetlands, and meadows, making it a mosaic of natural habitats that support diverse flora and fauna. The park is especially important for birdlife, serving as a refuge for numerous species, including migratory waterfowl and raptors. Its location along the Odra River provides beautiful riverine landscapes with opportunities for canoeing and fishing. Visitors can explore a network of marked trails passing through forests and open countryside, ideal for hiking, cycling, and nature observation. The park also preserves cultural landmarks like remnants of historical fortifications near Kostrzyn nad Odrą, adding a historical dimension to the natural experience. Due to its proximity to the Oder River and the German border, the park holds significance as a cross-border ecological corridor. The landscape park combines natural beauty with cultural history, catering to naturalists, photographers, and outdoor enthusiasts seeking tranquil settings. Seasonal changes highlight different facets—from spring wildflowers and bird migrations to peaceful autumn foliage and winter quietude.
