Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Lake Conway Wildlife Management Area (WMA), located near Mayflower in Central Arkansas, spans over 21,000 acres including one of the largest man-made lakes in the state. Established in 1951 by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, it serves as an important habitat for waterfowl, migratory birds, and a variety of fish species. The area consists primarily of shallow, vegetated waters tied to the Arkansas River Valley floodplain, supporting rich wetland ecosystems such as cypress-tupelo swamps, bottomland hardwood forests, and moist soil units.
