Litchfield National Park is located approximately 100 km southwest of Darwin, in Australia's Northern Territory. The park covers an area of around 590 square miles and is renowned for its spectacular natural features, including waterfalls such as Florence Falls, Wangi Falls, and Tolmer Falls. The park's diverse ecosystems range from monsoon rainforests and termite mounds to sandstone escarpments and open woodlands. It was established in 1986 and has become a popular spot for both tourists and locals, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. Litchfield is steeped in Aboriginal heritage, with its landscape holding great cultural significance to the local Koongurrukun, Mak Mak Marranunggu, Werat, and Waray Aborigines. The park offers excellent opportunities for hiking, swimming, and four-wheel driving, with many of its highlights being easily accessible within a day trip from Darwin. Wildlife enthusiasts can see species such as wallabies, bats, and various bird species in their natural habitats.
