Lough Corrib, situated in County Galway, western Ireland, is the country’s second largest lake and largest designated Special Area of Conservation (SAC). Spanning approximately 57,000 hectares of lake and associated wetlands, it features a rich mosaic of habitats including open water, reed beds, marshes, wet grasslands, and ancient oak woodlands.
