Majete Wildlife Reserve, located in the Chikwawa District of southern Malawi, covers diverse habitats including open savannah, riverine woodland, and forested hills. Covering approximately 700 square kilometers, it is the largest protected area in the south of Malawi. Originally plagued by poaching, Majete has undergone a remarkable transformation since the early 2000s, due to intensive conservation efforts led by the African Parks Network and local authorities.
