Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Northala Fields Green Space is a distinctive green area located in Northolt, within the London Borough of Ealing. It was established on a former quarry site, where four large man-made hills were constructed from the rubble of the original Wembley Stadium demolition. These hills are a key feature that provides sweeping panoramic views over the surrounding landscape, including distant views across London. The park covers several hectares of open grassland, formal lakes, and wetland areas. These water features support local wildlife, including waterfowl and invertebrates, contributing to urban biodiversity. The landscape is designed for multifunctional use, offering peaceful natural scenery close to an urban environment. The park invites activities such as walking, jogging, cycling along multi-use paths, and informal sports on spacious lawns. It also hosts a small play area and picnic spots, making it popular with families and dog walkers. Its proximity to the A40 and public transport makes it easily accessible to visitors from across west London. Northala Fields is regarded as a valuable example of reclaimed urban land repurposed for recreation and nature conservation. It was opened in the early 2000s and continues to serve as a vital green lung and outdoor leisure destination for the local community and visitors alike.
