Pelister National Park, the oldest national park in North Macedonia, was established in 1948. The park is located in the southwestern part of the country near the town of Bitola. It encompasses the Baba Mountain range, with Mount Pelister as its highest peak reaching 2,601 meters. The park is renowned for its primeval forests that are home to the endemic Macedonian Pine (Pinus peuce) and a wide variety of flora and fauna. Visitors can enjoy a rich tapestry of landscapes, from thick forests and alpine meadows to rushing rivers and serene glacial lakes such as the Pelister's Eyes. The park is particularly appealing to bird watchers, as it hosts a number of rare bird species. The area holds significant historical and cultural importance, with remnants of past civilizations found within its borders.
