Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Prairie View Conservation Area is located in southern Missouri near the town of Mountain View. Covering over 2,000 acres, this conservation area is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation and is primarily dedicated to the preservation of native prairie habitats, oak savannas, and forested wetlands. The landscape consists of rolling hills peppered with tallgrass prairie remnants, scattered oak woodlands, and small streams. The area supports a diverse range of flora, including big bluestem, Indian grass, and butterfly weed, and offers excellent opportunities to observe seasonal wildflowers in bloom.
