Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage
Rudy Landscape Park (Rudy Krajobrazowy Park) is situated in the Silesian Voivodeship in southern Poland. Covering a varied landscape that includes dense forests, wetlands, meadows, and old river valleys, the park is recognized for supporting a wealth of plant and animal species in a relatively small protected area. The park’s topography is characterized by gentle hills and valleys formed by the Odra River and its tributaries. Forests dominate the park, with a mix of pine, oak, and mixed broadleaf stands providing habitat for deer, boar, foxes, and a variety of bird species including the rare black stork and Eurasian eagle-owl. Moreover, the park’s marshes and ponds create important breeding grounds for amphibians and aquatic birds. This landscape park has a strong focus on nature conservation combined with sustainable recreational use. Visitors can explore numerous well-marked trails catering to hikers, cyclists, and bird watchers. In addition to enjoying the natural environment, visitors can also experience cultural heritage, including remnants of historical settlements and traditional rural architecture in the surrounding villages. The park’s peaceful environment and scenic beauty make it an appealing destination for day trips and longer nature excursions. Educational programs and guided tours are occasionally available during the warmer months to further enhance visitor understanding of the park’s ecological value and conservation efforts.
