Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Located on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia, Sea Acres National Park protects approximately 76 hectares of rare littoral rainforest, one of the largest remnants of its kind on this stretch of coastline. The park lies near the town of Port Macquarie, along the Pacific Ocean, providing a unique blend of coastal scenery and lush rainforest environment. Its primary ecological significance stems from the preservation of coastal rainforest species, including giant strangler figs, native ferns, and a variety of endemic birds, reptiles, and mammals. Visitors can explore the park’s 1.3-kilometer-long elevated boardwalk, which allows an immersive experience into the rainforest without damaging its sensitive understorey. This boardwalk is wheelchair accessible and features interpretive signage detailing the ecology and history of the area. Sea Acres was declared a national park in 1987 to safeguard its fragile ecosystem against development and urban encroachment.
