Buffalo Mountain Natural Area Preserve, located in Floyd County, Virginia, spans over 1,140 acres and is celebrated for its unique ecological and geological features. The area's geology is distinct, with igneous rock outcroppings creating a habitat rare to this part of the state. This geological uniqueness fosters a remarkable level of plant diversity, hosting at least 15 rare plant species including the globally rare mead’s sedge.
