Iezer–Papusa Natural Park covers a mountainous region in the Southern Carpathians, incorporating parts of the Argeș, Vâlcea, and Sibiu counties. The park is centered around the Iezer and Păpușa massifs, known for their rugged terrain, steep cliffs, and alpine meadows. Elevations in the park reach over 2,500 meters, including prominent peaks such as Păpușa Peak (2,391 m) and Iezer Peak (2,157 m). The landscape is characterized by glacial cirques, rocky outcrops, and dense coniferous and mixed forests that provide habitat for various wildlife species including brown bears, wolves, lynx, chamois, and numerous bird species. The park's biodiversity includes endemic and rare plants, making it an important conservation area.
