Heritage Shores Nature Preserve encompasses approximately 1000 acres of protected land along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan in Berrien County, Michigan. The preserve protects important coastal ecosystems including sandy beaches, dunes, hardwood forest, marshes, and ponds, providing crucial habitat for native plants and wildlife. The terrain rises gently from the lakeshore, offering views of the expansive lake and nearby wetlands. Opened to the public in 2010, the preserve is managed by the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy with a mission to conserve natural habitats while offering recreational opportunities.
