Laguna de Rocha Protected Area is located on the southeastern coast of Uruguay in the Canelones Department. This protected coastal lagoon and its surrounding wetlands cover an expansive area characterized by a mix of saltwater and freshwater ecosystems. The lagoon is separated from the Atlantic Ocean by a narrow sandbar, creating a sheltered environment that supports rich biodiversity. Key ecological features include calm shallow waters, dense reed beds, sand dunes, and adjacent native forests.
