Boone County State Recreation Area is located in central Iowa, near Boone city, and features a mix of woodland, prairie, and wetland ecosystems. The area's centerpiece is the 570-acre Seven Oaks Lake, which supports activities such as fishing, kayaking, and boating. Surrounding the lake are more than 9 miles of multi-use trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Established in the 1960s, the recreation area also offers campgrounds, picnic areas, and boat ramps, making it a popular destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts.
