Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve is located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York, on a peninsula that extends into the Long Island Sound. The park covers 1,516 acres and protects a mix of ecological habitats including mature hardwood forests, salt marshes, dunes, and meadows. Originally the private estate of businessman Marshall Field in the early 20th century, the land later became a state park to preserve its historical architecture and natural environment. Visitors can explore the 67-room mansion, stables, and formal gardens, which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
