Georgia Veterans State Park is located near the city of Cordele in Crisp County, Georgia, encompassing approximately 1,200 acres surrounding Blackshear Lake. The park was established in 1946 as a tribute to military veterans from Georgia and has since expanded to offer a wide range of recreational and educational opportunities. Its terrain features rolling pine forests, hardwood bottomlands, and the 375-acre Blackshear Lake, which supports freshwater fishing, boating, and paddle sports. Wildlife viewing is rewarding, with common sightings including deer, songbirds, and waterfowl. Fishing in Blackshear Lake offers bass, bream, catfish, and crappie.
