About Maryhill State Park

Maryhill State Park offers waterfront recreation along the Columbia River with camping, hiking, and fishing opportunities in southeastern Washington.

Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Maryhill State Park is situated on the south bank of the Columbia River in Klickitat County, southeastern Washington. The park encompasses a low-lying area adjoining the river, providing visitors with spectacular views of the waterway and surrounding landscape. The park's geography is defined by the Columbia River Gorge, where steep cliffs rise on both sides, creating a dramatic backdrop for outdoor activities. Ecologically, the area features shrub-steppe vegetation with native grasses and wildflowers, supporting local wildlife such as mule deer, waterfowl, and small mammals. Maryhill State Park was established in 1958 and is well known for its riverbank access, making it a popular spot for fishing, boating, and paddle sports. The park includes a boat launch, picnic shelters, and a full-service campground that accommodates both tents and RVs. Visitors can enjoy walking the park's short trails that hug the river’s edge, as well as taking scenic drives along State Route 14, which runs just north of the park. A notable landmark nearby is the Maryhill Museum of Art, a cultural attraction perched on a bluff overlooking the park and river. Maryhill State Park draws outdoor enthusiasts looking to explore the Columbia River corridor, particularly those interested in fishing for trout and bass or camping in a quiet riverside setting. Its combination of river access and proximity to regional attractions makes it a favored destination for day trips and longer stays during spring through fall.
