About Pearrygin Lake State Park

Pearrygin Lake State Park in Washington offers diverse recreational opportunities including camping, fishing, hiking, and boating along a scenic foothill lake surrounded by open forest and grasslands.

Wilderness Landscape & Natural Heritage

Pearrygin Lake State Park is located in the Methow Valley near the town of Twisp in north-central Washington. The park encompasses 683 acres around Pearrygin Lake, a 220-acre reservoir created by the damming of the West Fork of the Methow River. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills, open ponderosa pine and Douglas fir forests, and sagebrush grasslands, creating a habitat for a variety of wildlife including mule deer, bald eagles, and waterfowl. The Methow Valley’s semi-arid climate results in distinct seasons, with warm, dry summers and cold winters often capped with snow.

Established in 1956, Pearrygin Lake State Park is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts year-round. The lake is well-known for fishing, offering rainbow trout, largemouth bass, and yellow perch. Visitors enjoy swimming, sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding in the warmer months. The park features nearly 10 miles of trails well suited for mountain biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing in winter. Its remote yet accessible location offers tranquility along with sweeping views of the surrounding North Cascades foothills.

The park’s campgrounds are developed and family-friendly, with amenities like boat launches, picnic areas, and restrooms. Nearby landmarks include the town of Twisp, known for its arts culture and dining, and the larger Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest beyond, which provides additional opportunities for wilderness exploration. Pearrygin Lake State Park serves as a versatile basecamp for visitors seeking water recreation, wildlife observation, and access to the greater Methow Valley region.
