Grassy Knob Wilderness spans approximately 17,200 acres in the southern Coast Range of Oregon, north of the Rogue River. This wilderness features a mix of old-growth forests, windswept ridges, and deep valleys. Grassy Knob itself is the highest peak in this area, providing breathtaking views of the coastline and interior mountains. Established in 1984, this wilderness area protects a variety of ecosystems, including western hemlock, Douglas-fir, and Sitka spruce. Visitors may also encounter wildlife such as black bears, elk, and a plethora of bird species.
