Matagorda Wildlife Management Area (WMA) spans approximately 60,000 acres along the Texas Gulf Coast near the town of Palacios. This protected area features a mix of coastal marshes, tidal flats, wetlands, tallgrass prairies, hardwood forests, and estuarine environments. It serves as an important habitat for a variety of wildlife species, especially migratory birds, making it a prime destination for birdwatchers and hunters.
