Red Rock Wildlife Management Area (WMA) encompasses approximately 19,800 acres of protected desert and mountainous terrain within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area near Las Vegas, Nevada. The WMA provides crucial habitat connectivity for bounty of species including desert bighorn sheep, mule deer, mountain lions, and numerous bird species. The area’s diverse terrain includes rugged red sandstone formations, juniper and piñon pine woodlands, and riparian zones sustained by intermittent springs. Established primarily to conserve wildlife populations and support public hunting, the area also supports hiking and non-motorized recreation. Red Rock WMA lies within the Mojave Desert, bordered by the Spring Mountains to the west, which offer elevation changes that create microclimates beneficial for wildlife. It serves as a key conservation area under the Nevada Department of Wildlife’s management. Visitors can explore scenic trails that wind through rocky outcrops and desert scrub.
