THE RAPIDS

Five Miles of Continuous Class III–IV Action

This half-day run packs over 20 named rapids into a short stretch — expect repeated surf-and-play hits, steep ledges and big waves that build toward Tablesaw, the course’s longest and most formidable rapid.

THE SETTING

Cherokee Forest Gorge and TVA Water Management

The river carves a compact, scenic corridor through the Cherokee National Forest; as the current eases in the Doldrums you can swim and learn about the gorge’s history and the TVA dam system that controls the flow.

AFTER THE RUN

Showers, Photos and a Place to Plan Your Next Trip

After you’re off the water, The Outpost provides hot showers, professional trip photos to review and picnic tables for a post-rafting lunch and gear sorting before you head home.

What the day feels like

What the Half-Day Feels Like

From the moment the group signs waivers and climbs aboard the shuttle, the trip moves with purpose: a concise safety briefing, a kit-up with helmet and life jacket, a few practice strokes, then immediate immersion in continuous Class III/IV whitewater. You’ll hit Grumpy’s Ledge first, move through play spots such as Washing Machine and Double Trouble, confront the six-foot slide at Double Suck, relax briefly in the Doldrums for a swim if conditions allow, and finish by charging Tablesaw and Diamond Splitter before a short return to The Outpost.
