Bring sturdy walking shoes (sturdy trainers are fine), comfortable weather‑appropriate clothing, a bottle of water and snacks; sunscreen in summer and warm hat/gloves in winter.
For the raft you need swimwear and a towel; the operator provides wetsuits, booties, PFDs and helmets along with all necessary river equipment.

Yes. Full long John wetsuits with long-sleeved wetsuit jackets, booties and helmets are provided; you may wear additional coverings under the helmet but coverings over the nose or mouth are not allowed for safety.
Are there weight restrictions for rafting?

What should I expect on the drive to the trailhead?
Expect approximately a 30-minute drive from Rotorua to the base of the Mt Tarawera 4WD track, followed by an 8.2 km stretch of bumpy off-road terrain; notify guides if you suffer from motion sickness so they can seat you in the least bumpy part of the vehicle.
