The Upper New Canyon run covers about 15 miles and typically lasts between 4 and 6 hours.

What to Bring

Bring any daily medications, sunscreen, sunglasses (with strap), a change of clothes to leave at the resort, and season-appropriate layers; wetsuits and splash jackets are available to rent if needed.

Meet at 115 Oscar White Rd., Lansing, WV 25862. Check-in is 30 minutes before the listed trip time; bring your group to the front desk to complete arrival procedures and confirm waivers.

Gear & Rentals

Guides provide helmets, PFDs and paddles; wetsuits and splash jackets are available for rent. Guides also carry small waterproof bags for necessary medications.

What do I need to do before I get there?

What time is check-in for the rafting trip?

Check-in time is 30 minutes before your listed trip time for New River trips.

What should I do when I arrive?

Bring your group to the front desk to check in upon arrival.

What should I bring with me?

Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing you can move in—swimsuit, shorts, shoes that tie or strap, T-shirt (nylon for cool days), ball cap, sunglasses with strap and sunscreen. Wetsuits can be rented.

Are there changing and shower facilities?

Yes, changing and shower facilities are available.

Can extra guests be added at check-in?

It's best to add extra guests no later than the day before due to fill; staff will do their best to accommodate last-minute requests.

How many people fit in each raft?

Standard 16-foot boats carry 8 people plus a guide. Upgrades to 6-man (14 ft) or 4-man (12 ft) boats are available for an additional fee if arranged in advance.

Will the trip run in rain or snow?

Trips run in rain, shine and even snow; in extreme weather the operator may cancel and will notify the group leader when possible. Bring appropriate cold-weather gear and consider renting wetsuits for cold conditions.

Can I store medications while on the river?

Yes. Bring pertinent medications (epi-pens, inhalers, heart meds, insulin) and communicate with your trip leader at check-in; guides carry small waterproof bags for medications.

Will we have lunch on the river?

Full-day trips include lunch; if you have dietary restrictions, bring a small extra snack. Standard lunches include cold cuts, a pasta or potato salad option, condiments, dessert and PB&J.

What if I am late for my trip?

The operator will not delay departure for late arrivals. If you know you'll be late, call to see if you can be rebooked on a later trip; there are no refunds for day-of no-shows.

May I request a specific guide?

Yes—guide requests are encouraged but must be made at the time of reservation; multiple groups may request the same guide.
