Frequently asked questions

Planning Your Outing

What is the maximum number of people allowed on a tour?

The tour size is kept at 9 people unless there is one group booking together; for groups larger than 9 you must call to book as the operator has more than 50 Segways available.

Do you have to have good balance to ride a Segway PT?

No. You just have to trust the Segway — the machine balances you. Expect trust and comfort to build during the initial training.

Will I be trained on how to use the Segway?

Yes. Tours begin with a training session that lasts between 10 and 30 minutes depending on group size and comfort level; once everyone is comfortable, the group departs.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

You will be provided a bicycle helmet free of charge; you may bring your own helmet if you prefer.

What should I wear?

Best to wear comfortable shoes and dress a little warmer than for walking because the Segway generates wind and it can feel cooler while riding.

What happens if it rains?

The operator will provide rain ponchos; you may also cancel or reschedule with a full refund in case of rain.

Can I take pictures during the tour?

Yes. You can take pictures and the guide will also take pictures for you; you will be provided with a link to the photos after the tour at no charge.

Do we stand the whole time?

No. Most tours include at least one stop where riders get off the Segway to rest their feet, and guides can stop as desired for the group.

Is it necessary to make reservations in advance?

Yes. Reservations are necessary because Segways are transported to tour locations and the operator needs to know participant numbers; book online or by phone to secure preferred times.

Is a liability waiver required?

Yes. All riders must sign a liability waiver before participating; if riders are under 18 a parent or guardian must also sign. An electronic waiver is sent after booking.
