Build Board Confidence: Paddle Canada Level 1/Level 2 SUP Skills on Victoria’s Protected Waters.
On calm mornings in Victoria, a small fleet of students and instructors peel away from shore and trade wobbles for purposeful strokes. Paddle Canada’s Level 1 and Level 2 SUP courses condense the core of stand-up paddleboarding into focused 2–4 hour lessons: basic balance, stops and turns in Level 1, and efficiency, bracing and pivot turns in Level 2. Sessions take place at sheltered local venues—Willows Beach, Gonzales Bay or Thetis Lake—where participants can earn Basic or Advanced Paddle Canada certification and leave better prepared for open-water adventures.

What the day feels like
What a Course Day Feels Like
A typical session is concentrated and pragmatic: Level 1 runs about two hours and introduces standing, stopping, turning and essential safety knowledge; Level 2 is also two hours and refines paddling efficiency, bracing and pivot turns. In some cases operators blend Levels 1 and 2 into a three‑hour combined course. The tempo is hands‑on—land drills, short paddles, instructor feedback and repeated practice until maneuvers become second nature.
