Planning Your Outing
How long is the lesson and how is the hour used?
The lesson is one hour total, with roughly a short land instruction segment followed by guided time in the water; the exact split is adjusted to the student's needs.
Where exactly do we meet for the lesson?
Meet at 650 South Lumina Ave (Beach Access #36, Crystal Pier). Sean meets on the north side of the pier (left side when facing the ocean) on the sand; he will be wearing a Sean's Private Surf Instruction T-shirt and carrying a surfboard.
What should I bring and what is provided?
Bring water, sunscreen, a towel and a warm change of clothes; the operator provides the surfboard and a wetsuit if needed, although you can bring your own board.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
Full refund is issued for cancellations made 24 hours or more before the lesson. Cancellations under 24 hours are not refunded but the payment is kept as a credit valid for up to three years. No-shows are not refunded; cancelling less than 30 minutes before the start counts as a no-show.
What happens if the operator cancels due to weather or conditions?
If the operator cancels because conditions are unsafe, you will be offered a full refund or rescheduling, according to your preference.
Do I need to arrive early?
Yes—arrive early to find parking, particularly in summer. Suggested arrival is 10–15 minutes early on summer weekdays and about 30 minutes early on summer weekends.
What if Sean is late to the lesson?
The listing notes Sean is sometimes a few minutes behind; if the lesson starts late it will be extended so you still receive the full one-hour surf lesson.
