You arrive a few minutes early, meet the coaches at the Coastrider van, get suited and boarded, and move through group-split warmups and beach-based technique before spending time in the water practicing skills—interspersed with surf-specific beach games and a closing feedback session that sets goals for the next lesson.

Planning Your Outing
What ages can join SurfGroms?
Programs are for youngsters aged between 5 and 12 years old.
What happens if my child misses a session?
If you can't make every session of a program you are able to do a makeup session at one of the other SurfGrom programs running during the same time of year.
Are wetsuits and boards provided?
Yes — coaches will fit participants with a wetsuit and board at the start of the lesson.
How are groups organised?
Groups may be split into Minigroms (5–8) and Supergroms (9–12) and then further separated by skill level from Level 1 to Level 5.
Is there an extra registration fee?
A $25 Surfing Australia admin fee is included in the price when registering for your first SurfGrom program each season (season runs 1 September–31 August); subsequent programs in the same season will not incur the full fee.
