Muriwai’s black‑sand shore becomes a classroom for young surfers in this school‑holiday program: tailored, group lessons that emphasize beach and ocean safety, pop‑up technique and the progression from whitewater riding to turning and duck‑diving as skill allows. The structure is deliberately social as well as technical, helping kids build confidence while they learn and make mates.

What the day feels like

What the four lessons feel like

Each session is structured to warm up on the beach, rehearse safety and pop‑up technique on sand, then take those skills into the water where coaches guide catching waves and incremental progressions tailored to the group’s level.

Sessions run 1 hour 30 minutes, giving coaches time for warm‑ups, focused drills and multiple in‑water attempts for each participant.
